Gardening A-Z

Spinach and silverbeet are the perfect space fillers in a winter vege garden. Plant them in between your larger and longer growing vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower and they’ll be finished with the space before its needed.

If you’re like most busy home gardeners these days, you probably only grow a selection of the vegetables you eat. That’s why it’s important to choose carefully when it comes to which ones are worth your time and attention, and which are better bought in store.

There are a few plants I like to always have on hand in my vege garden. I plant them regularly to ensure I’m never caught short. Lettuce is one. Rocket is another. And one other I can’t do without is spinach. We add it to salads, quiches, pies, and lasagnes – just about everything.

I love spinach. I love how you can simply pick the leaves off the plant as they reach the size you desire.
