Matapouri Bay rengarenga lily (Arthropodium bifurcatum ‘Matapouri Bay’, commonly sold as Arthropodium cirratum ‘Matapouri Bay’) is a large evergreen perennial endemic to New Zealand. It forms a broad clump of arching, strap-like green leaves. Upright stems carry clusters of star-shaped white flowers with curled purple and yellow stamens from late spring into early summer.
‘Matapouri Bay’ suits shaded borders, mass planting, coastal gardens and planting beneath trees. Grow in partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Water while establishing; once settled, it tolerates dry conditions. Remove old leaves and spent flower stems to keep the clump tidy. It reaches approximately 70 cm tall and wide, with flower stems extending higher.
