Everest Japanese sedge (Carex oshimensis ‘Everest’) is a compact evergreen perennial sedge forming a neat, arching mound approximately 30–45 cm tall and wide. Its narrow dark-green leaves have broad, silvery-white margins that provide year-round contrast. Small brown flower spikes may appear during spring or summer but are generally inconspicuous.
‘Everest’ suits shaded borders, woodland gardens, groundcover planting, rockeries, containers and cascading over low walls. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and during extended dry periods. It is hardy throughout New Zealand and requires little maintenance beyond removing damaged or older foliage.
