Mountain Green kōhūhū (Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Mountain Green’)

A fast-growing evergreen shrub with dense, glossy, fresh lime-green foliage and a naturally bushy, rounded habit. Small, sweetly scented purple flowers appear in spring and deepen in colour as they age.

Growing approximately 2.5–3 m tall and 2 m wide, it is well suited to hedging, privacy screening, shelter planting and mixed native gardens. Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly during its first year, then during extended dry periods. It tolerates wind, coastal exposure, frost and dry conditions once established. Trim in late spring or summer to encourage dense growth and maintain the desired height and shape.

Native origin: Cultivar of the New Zealand-native Pittosporum tenuifolium
Plant type: Evergreen native shrub
Companion Plants: Coprosma, corokia, hebe, carex and New Zealand flax.

Key difference: Glossy lime-green foliage forms a dense, rounded screen. Fast-growing native shrub for fresh-green hedges, screens and shelter.
