Taiko creeping mirror plant (Coprosma ‘Taiko’)
A vigorous, prostrate native shrub forming a dense mat of small, glossy dark-green leaves that develop deep purple tones during winter. Tiny, inconspicuous summer flowers are followed by bright blue autumn berries that attract birds and add seasonal interest.
Growing approximately 30 cm tall and up to 1.5 m wide, it is ideal for ground cover, banks, retaining walls, rockeries and coastal gardens. Plant in full sun for the strongest winter colour or partial shade, in well-drained soil. Once established, it tolerates wind, coastal exposure and dry periods but should be protected from heavy frost. Its naturally compact habit generally requires little pruning.
