Peanuts are classified as legumes. They are easy to grow and requires little maintenance.
Peanuts have yellow flowers that bloom above ground but the fruit and their seeds develop at the end of live shoots called "pegs," which grow into the ground. The peanut fruits form at the end of these pegs.
Peanut plants help improve the soil by fixing nitrogen into the soil.
Peanuts can grow up to 50 cm tall.
From seedling, it takes about 2-3/2-4 months to fruit.
Peanut loves a sunny spot, well drained, rich soil. Water regularly, Mound soil around the plant as it grows. It can be planted in large pots 50 cm wide and 30 cm deep.
It needs protection from strong winds.
It has a fruiting period of approximately 2 months.
Harvesting:
Plant leaves turn yellow - dig up the entire plant. Each plant produces approximately 25 and 50 peanuts.Then hang the plant upside down and wait for moisture to dry up.
