A fast growing sedge often popular in wetland restoration and riparian plantings. Grows in clumps or tussocks, it can grow from 1.5 to 4.5 mm wide.
Widespread from sea level to about 1000 m and in open, swampy conditions and also in damp sites within lowland forest. In parts of the country this sedge is often the dominant carice of lowland alluvial forest.
