Lemon balm makes a refreshing tea and its chopped leaves taste delicious in salads, stews and soups. It is sometimes known as garden balm, honey plant and sweet balm.

- Plant in full sun in well-drained soil
- Avoid overhead watering
- Add a bit of lime and a general fertiliser to the soil before planting
- Once planted, layer newspaper around your seedlings and cover the newspaper with peastraw to prevent it drying out between watering
