Five Finger - Pseudopanax arboreus
Five Finger also known as Puahou or Whauwhaupaku is an evergreen NZ native that produces five to seven leaflets around a central stalk that look like fingers. This plant is part of the ivy family and produces blackberries.
five fingers grow quite well in the North Island and produce an abundance of pollen earlier in the season before any other trees are active!
