Chilli - Carolina Reaper
Since 2013 the Carolina Reaper has held the record by Guinness World Records for being the hottest chilli in the world! It's heat level was recorded as 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units and it is named the Reaper due to the shape of its tail. And it is a cross-breed of two of our other chilli - Bhut Jolokia and Habanero Red. According to Wikipedia it has been described as having a 'fruity taste, with the initial bite being sweet and then immediately turning to molten lava'. Try it if you dare!
Here's our list of chillies in order of hottest (starting with the hottest of the hot) - Carolina Reaper, Bhut Jolokia, Habanero Red, Red Hot Pepper, Jalapeno Red Flame and Jalapeno.
