Do you have an organic recipe to spray on grapes? I want to persuade the vine hoppers to stay away as the grapes are nearly ripe. Birds are not a problem as I have two cats.

Neem oil is an excellent organic spray. Avoid spraying the grapes themselves otherwise you’ll end up eating the oil once you harvest!

How can I repel possums from my garden?

Try spraying the plants with a brew of Neem oil and fish-based liquid fertiliser. They are put off eating the roses and other goodies by the smell, and so are the rabbits and hares for that matter.

How do I stop black birds, starlings and thrushs wrecking my garden?

My suggestion is to create a thick border of leaves such as Liropes, Agapanthus Streamliner, Heuchera, Heleborus or Libertia. Plant these close together (300mm centres).

These plants are easy care and clump up nicely with age. I also recommend not using light mulch, if you are concerned your plants need fertiliser use a palletised variety
