Feijoa ‘Apollo’ is a vigorous evergreen fruiting shrub bred in New Zealand by Hayward Wright, known for its large, high-quality fruit and upright growth. This mid-season variety produces smooth green fruit with sweet, aromatic, juicy flesh, typically ripening in autumn. Apollo forms a tall, dense shrub or small tree with silver-backed foliage and produces edible red and white flowers in late spring. It is partially self-fertile but produces heavier crops and larger fruit when cross-pollinated with another variety. Feijoa grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and some shelter from wind. Suitable for many New Zealand gardens, it is commonly used for home orchards, hedging and productive planting.
