Lobelia Queen Victoria

Are you looking for an easy, low maintenance plant that grows well in wet and boggy areas and attracts beneficial insects? Lobelia Queen Victoria is a great option to have in your garden, native to North America this upright growing perennial produces striking red flowers that attract butterflies and also repel deer and rabbits, so they’re great to plant around your vege garden. Did we mention that it can actually be grown in water up to 7cm deep?

This stunning perennial is likely to self-seed so makes it a perfect option for a cottage garden and works well in boarder planting along ponds and streams, plus it’s a low-risk plant that rarely gets and diseases and is fairly pest free!

Are you ready to give them ago? If so, follow these easy planting instructions:

  1. Plant in areas with full-sun and part shade
  2. Plant in rich fertile soil, will tolerate poor drainage
  3. Plant seedlings around 30-45cm apart
  4. Grows to a height of 90cm -120cm
  5. Spreads roughly between 35cm-60cm
  6. Deadhead after flowering to promote new buds
  7. Divide plants every two years
