Harvesting from December to January, this reliable summer cropper is well suited to all districts and performs best in full sun with good support for its long canes. With an estimated chill requirement of 400–500 hours, it establishes well in most New Zealand growing regions. Late spring frosts may damage flowers, so protection in colder areas is recommended.
