Blueberry Reka is a heavy-cropping Northern Highbush variety valued for its very early season production. Harvesting from November to December, it delivers reliable early summer fruit in regions from Waikato southwards. Reka has a vigorous, upright growth habit and benefits from full sun and well-drained, acidic soil. With a high chill requirement of 1000+ hours, it is well suited to cooler New Zealand districts. Heavy spring frosts may damage flowers, so some protection is recommended in frost-prone areas. Reka produces heavy crops of medium-sized berries with good flavour, making it ideal for fresh eating, baking and preserves. An excellent choice for gardeners wanting an early, dependable blueberry harvest.
