Acaena 'Novae Zealand' is a low-growing perennial groundcover native to New Zealand, valued for its spreading habit and decorative foliage. This mat-forming plant produces small divided green to bronze leaves that create dense groundcover in garden beds and open spaces. In summer it develops distinctive burr-like seed heads that add texture to the plant. Acaena grows best in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil and tolerates coastal and exposed conditions once established. Suitable for many New Zealand gardens, it is commonly used for groundcover, rock gardens and naturalistic planting areas.
Key difference: Native spreading groundcover with decorative burr seed heads.
