Armeria maritima is a compact perennial grown for its rounded pink flower heads and dense grass-like foliage. This clump-forming plant produces slender stems topped with globe-shaped blooms during spring and early summer. The flowers rise above neat mounds of narrow green leaves, creating a tidy display in garden beds. Armeria grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and tolerates coastal conditions and exposed sites. Suitable for many New Zealand gardens, it is commonly used in rock gardens, borders and coastal plantings.
Key difference: Globe-shaped pink flowers above grass-like foliage.
