Tigerella tomato (Solanum lycopersicum ‘Tigerella’)
Tigerella is a productive English heirloom tomato grown for its distinctive round fruit. The tomatoes ripen to reddish-orange with bright yellow-orange stripes and have a rich, tangy flavour. They are ideal for salads, sandwiches and fresh eating.
This indeterminate variety grows approximately 1–1.5 m tall and requires staking or another sturdy support. Plant in full sun after the risk of frost has passed, in fertile, well-draining soil. Water consistently and feed regularly with tomato fertiliser once flowering begins. Fruit generally matures 80–90 days after transplanting.
Origin: England
Plant type: Indeterminate heirloom cocktail tomato
Companion plants: Basil, parsley, marigolds, spring onions and lettuce
Key difference: Golden tiger-like stripes decorate each tangy tomato. Productive heirloom tomato with richly flavoured, reddish-orange fruit marked by distinctive golden stripes.
