Asian Salad Greens (Tatsoi)

Not Available

Brassica rapa var. narinosa, commonly known as Tatsoi, is a fast-growing leafy vegetable grown for its tender dark green leaves and mild mustard flavour.

This cool-season Asian green forms attractive rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves that can be harvested young for salads or mature for stir-fries and soups.

Tatsoi grows best in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil and regular moisture. It performs well in cooler conditions and can be harvested over an extended period by picking outer leaves as needed.

Suitable for many New Zealand vegetable gardens, it is commonly grown in garden beds, raised planters and container gardens.

Tatsoi is an Asian green of Chinese origin, widely used in Japanese cooking. Pairs well with lettuce, spinach and spring onions in cool-season gardens.
