Andromeda polifolia is a small evergreen shrub grown for its delicate pink bell-shaped flowers and narrow blue-green foliage. This compact plant produces clusters of nodding blooms in spring, creating soft colour above the fine leaves. The foliage often shows silvery undersides, adding contrast in garden plantings. Andromeda grows best in full sun to partial shade with moist, acidic, well-drained soil similar to other ericaceous plants. Suitable for cooler New Zealand gardens, it is commonly used in rock gardens, peat beds and woodland-style plantings.
