Brushfield’s Yellow camellia (Camellia japonica ‘Brushfield’s Yellow’) is an evergreen perennial shrub with compact, upright growth and glossy dark-green foliage. Its medium-sized, anemone-form flowers have creamy-white outer petals surrounding tightly ruffled, pale primrose-yellow centres. Flowering occurs mainly from late winter through spring.
This camellia suits woodland gardens, sheltered borders, hedging, screening, espalier and large containers. It grows approximately 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Plant in partial shade or gentle morning sun in humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Keep evenly moist during dry weather, mulch to cool the roots and protect flowers from strong winds and early morning frost.
