Ayesha plantain lily (Hosta ‘Ayesha’) is a deciduous, clump-forming perennial with thick, heart-shaped leaves. The glossy golden-yellow centres develop chartreuse to lime-green tones in summer, surrounded by broad, irregular blue-green margins. Upright stems carry lavender-purple, bell-shaped flowers during summer.
Growing approximately 40 cm tall and spreading around 60 cm, ‘Ayesha’ suits shaded borders, woodland gardens, containers and underplanting shrubs. Grow in partial or dappled shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Gentle morning sun can strengthen the foliage colour, but avoid harsh afternoon sun. Water during dry periods and protect emerging leaves from slugs and snails. The foliage naturally dies back during winter.
