Japanese Salad Greens (Mizuna)

Not Available

Brassica rapa var. japonica, commonly known as Mizuna, is a fast-growing leafy vegetable grown for its finely cut green leaves and mild peppery flavour. This cool-season Asian green forms attractive rosettes of feathery foliage that can be harvested young for salads or mature for stir-fries and cooking.

Mizuna grows quickly and allows repeated harvesting by picking outer leaves while the plant continues producing new growth. It grows best in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil and regular moisture. Suitable for many New Zealand vegetable gardens, Mizuna is commonly grown in garden beds, raised planters and container gardens.

Mizuna combines well with lettuce, spring onions and spinach for productive cool-season vegetable gardens.
