Variegated lilyturf (Liriope muscari ‘Variegata’)
A compact, clump-forming perennial with arching, glossy green leaves edged in creamy white. Dense spikes of small lavender-purple flowers rise above the foliage from late summer into autumn, sometimes followed by glossy black berries.
Growing approximately 30–40 cm tall and wide, it is ideal for shaded borders, pathway edging, mass planting, containers and underplanting trees or shrubs. Plant in partial or full shade in moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates dry shade once established, although occasional watering during prolonged dry periods encourages healthier growth. Remove old or damaged foliage in late winter.
Native origin: Species native to China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan—not native to New Zealand
